We live in a technological world filled with personal devices all around us, and as what my teachers would use to say “left, right, and center”.
Back when I was in school in the 90s, we didn’t have a lot of alternative resources for learning, and I still remember during the SARS days I would be at home watching television programmes and munching on snacks.
Now, all that has changed with the advent of personal devices, apps, and the internet. Students have choices, with a variety of online learning options. With just a click of a button, teachers, coaches, and students are able to connect regardless of location which has greatly eased the inconveniences faced in a face-to-face class setting.
Implementation of online learning has also been greatly adopted due to the restrictions placed in the current COVID pandemic. The “new normal” as described by many has truly been a blessing in this time of crisis.human whack a mole
Let us explore how our children can continue to benefit from online learning and how can they integrate it with physical classes to reap the benefits of both:
Flexible Schedules
Many parents and students choose online classes because of the freedom it affords them in their schedules. The convenience of online classes is great for them to save precious time otherwise spent on travelling, to rest, spend more time with their families.
Fewer Distractions to Learning
Online classes allow students to concentrate better by minimising distractions like socialising with their friends during lessons. Online coaches can also focus all their attention on coaching and teaching their students rather than addressing disruptive behaviours.
Comfort
In a school or home setting, a comfortable learning environment is crucial for a child. It helps them to feel more at ease and to focus on content of the lesson.
One of the main benefits of a home setting is the degree of control. An online class setting will also be less daunting to the introverted students to comfortably participate in activities. It can be a good platform for them to gradually build their confidence and interpersonal skills before easing into a physical class setting.
Parents Are More Involved
With the convenience of location and space, parents are able to monitor the lessons with little to no disruptions. The synergy of parental and coaches involvement is infinitely beneficial to enhance children’s learning. Some of the benefits include:
- Coaches providing parents with ideas to help children with activities to help with their development
- Coaches taking on less parental responsibilities and focus on the coaching objectives.
- Fostering stronger parent-child bond, as parents can have more opportunities to interact and work with their child.
More Learning Options
Every child learns differently. Some thrive in the physical class setting, while others do better on their own or in small groups. Some learn more efficiently through visual means, while others are more auditory, or kinaesthetically inclined. Online learning is able cater to most of these different learning styles.
With a wide variety of classes (from dance, music, to sports) to choose from, there is no lack of options for children to learn. They are also able to seamlessly transit from programme to programme with a click of a button and find one that suits them.
And when they are finally ready to commit, they can then opt to join a physical class to enhance their learning experience.

Conclusion
We have seen a huge shift in learning and it is no longer limited to a classroom, brick-and-mortar setting. With the continuous advancement in technology, it provides educators and coaches the tools to constantly innovate to serve and deliver good quality teaching contents. Children will also have more opportunities to access more of the learning resources and classes, expanding their learning exposures and capabilities.
